Acceptance

By using ClearBG you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

The service

ClearBG provides free, browser-based image tools (background removal, cropping, conversion, and more). The tools run on your device; we don't host or store your files. The service is provided free of charge for personal and commercial use.

Because the processing happens in your browser rather than on our servers, there is no account to create, no per-image quota to exceed, and no processing queue. It also means the service depends on your device and browser: an older phone, a browser with scripting restricted, or a device short on memory may be slower or unable to run the tools that need an AI model. Where that happens the page will say so rather than fail silently, and the tools that need no model generally keep working.

Exports are full resolution and carry no watermark. We do not add a paid tier to the export step, and we do not restrict output quality by usage. Should that ever change, it would apply to future use of the service and not retroactively to work you have already produced.

Availability and changes to the tools

The service is offered on a best-effort basis. Tools may be added, changed or withdrawn, and individual features may stop working when a browser changes its behaviour, when a third-party component is updated, or when a technique we rely on stops being supported. We do not guarantee that any particular tool will remain available, and we do not commit to a notice period before a change.

Anything you produce is downloaded to your own device at the moment you export it. Because nothing is stored on our side, a change or an outage here cannot remove or alter files you have already saved — but equally, we hold no copy of your work and cannot recover anything for you. Keep your own originals.

Acceptable use

The tools are provided for lawful use. In particular, do not use ClearBG to alter identity or travel documents in a way intended to deceive, to remove watermarks or attribution from work you do not own, to produce material that impersonates a real person in a misleading way, or to edit images of other people in ways that are harassing, sexualised without consent, or otherwise harmful.

We have no technical ability to monitor or enforce this, precisely because your images never reach us. That places the responsibility with you, and it is not a loophole: the applicable law still applies to what you make, regardless of which tool made it.

Your content & responsibilities

You are responsible for the images you process and must have the right to use them. Don't use ClearBG to create unlawful, infringing, or harmful content. Because processing happens entirely in your browser, you retain full ownership of your images and their outputs.

Passport & ID photos

The passport / ID photo tool is a free helper, not an official government service. While it produces common official sizes, requirements vary and change. Always confirm your government's exact rules before submitting a photo. We are not responsible for rejected applications.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that results will be perfect, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ClearBG and its creator are not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. This includes lost work, missed deadlines, rejected applications or submissions, and any consequence of an image being processed differently than you expected.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities, and nothing here is intended to remove a right you have that cannot be waived. Where a limitation above is not permitted, it applies only to the extent that it is.
