The short version: your images never leave your device. Every tool on ClearBG runs entirely in your browser, so we never receive, see, or store the photos you edit.

Your images

Background removal, upscaling, cropping, conversion and every other tool run locally in your browser using in-browser AI and canvas processing. Your images are never uploaded to a server, never stored, and never transmitted to us or anyone else. When you close the tab, they're gone.

What we collect

We don't ask you to create an account and we don't collect personal information. The limited data involved is:

  • Anonymous usage analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic (page views, referrers, country, device type). It's privacy-friendly, does not use cookies, and does not collect personally identifiable information.
  • On-device preferences. Your theme choice and recent in-session history are stored in your browser's localStorage. This never leaves your device and we can't read it.
  • Advertising (on some pages). Our informational and landing pages may show ads via Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and personalise ads. The interactive tool pages are kept ad-free.

Cookies & advertising

ClearBG itself does not set tracking cookies. Where ads are shown, third-party vendors — including Google — may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and learn more at Google's advertising policies. In the EU/UK, ads are shown subject to a consent prompt.

Third-party services

  • Vercel — hosting and privacy-friendly analytics.
  • Google — AdSense (on content pages) and web fonts.
  • jsDelivr & Cloudflare (cdnjs) — content-delivery networks that serve the AI model, libraries and icon fonts to your browser.

These providers may process technical data (such as your IP address) as needed to deliver files to your browser, under their own privacy policies.

Children

ClearBG is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
